Hi there! I’m Lizzy Tomei, a journalist and consultant born and raised in San Francisco. I am currently based in Boston, but have been lucky to call a range of places home, from rural Ohio to urban South Africa.
I began my journalism career as an editor and reporter at The Cambodia Daily (RIP to an esteemed publication), and later worked in Cambodia as a freelance researcher, writer and English tutor. I’ve worked as an editor and writer for clients based in Southeast Asia, Central America and the United States, and as a reporter for the San Francisco Public Press.
Most recently, I was a senior editor focused on global news for PRI.org and its flagship radio show The World. Before that I was the editor of GlobalPost.com (now part of PRI.org), an award-winning international news site with correspondents around the world. During more than three years at GlobalPost I also worked as its managing editor and breaking news editor. I am the semi-rare person who genuinely enjoys management and being the coordinator on a team.
I hold a BA in English from Kenyon College and a master’s degree in international affairs and public policy from Columbia University. During my graduate program, I was a senior editor for the Journal of International Affairs, as well as a supervising research assistant for the Department of Statistics and Quantitative Analysis.
Nature, words and travel move me. And you cannot put a price on basic human decency!
